…the end user Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 by Nick
Since I’ve started my new life as a married man with a wife and a job I’ve been introduced to lots of new stuff, and the way I used to view certain things is quickly changing. A computer, for example, is no longer just a music downloading machine that searches random things on the web and occasionally types up a college essay. It is now the ultimate communication device that sends hundreds of messages back and forth to locations all over the world to get the most mundane, yet still important, tasks completed. Overnight the task of keeping my computer organized went from a fun thing I did every so often to something imperative. Organization makes you more efficient and efficiency keeps jobs (though maybe not in the current economic condition). As I come up with ideas or hear about services that I feel are beneficial to desktop users in the workplace or at home I want to be able to share them with people. That’s why I’ve decided to start the end user . A blog dedicated to sharing different tips on how to get the most out of our computers. It’s called the end user because that’s basically what we all are, we don’t create software or computer hardware we simply use it…we are the end users. I don’t really know how dedicated I’ll be to keeping it full of content but we will see how it goes. I’m looking for collaborators so if you’re interested let me know.

Andrew Bird! Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 by Nick
Andrew Bird is coming to town! Saturday night I’ll be heading to the House of Blues with Taylor and Callie to check out one of my favorite artists. It has been a while since I’ve been to a live show but I couldn’t miss watching Bird jam out on his violin. Kim, unfortunately, will be be back in Austin for another wedding shower for our friend Amanda. Check out his bio here. This guy is incredibly talented and I’m pumped for what’s bound to be a great show.
In other news iPhone software update 3.0 was revealed by Apple with lots of sweet new features. Including cut and paste! Check out all the details at gizmodo or watch the full Apple keynote here. iPhone users wont be able to update until this summer but the new features look promising.

Erin go braugh! Monday, March 16th, 2009 by Kim
Tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the year…St. Patrick’s Day!!! What could be better? I have to say, I’m a little thrown off this year because not only is my family skipping out on throwing a St. Pattie’s party, my mom almost wasn’t going to make corned beef & cabbage for dinner because she had other plans! But she has taken the honorable route and is making and eating the traditional dinner annnd going to eat/sit with her friends for dinner.
One fun St. Pattie’s memory I have is going to the parade in NY with my sister & Aunt JoAnne. We were so bundled up, and somehow I ended up hot and asked my aunt to take my coat home while Katie & I stayed out. They both told me that was dumb, and I had to wear my coat even if I said I was hot.
If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch my mom doing the Irish jig a time or two during the day tomorrow, which is always a treat. (the odds are in your favor) I remember us practicing the jig (or our version of it at least) to some A Teens song in high school… I just remembered how much I love them back then & found a youtube music video of theirs! Nick thought I was just joking and was a little concerned when I kept right on listening to the entire songs. Next stop, learn their moves! I’m so happy to have found their videos!
Okay that’s all for now. So, I’ll leave everyone with this Irish blessing:
In This Irish Home
May these walls be filled with laughter,
may it reach from floor to rafter.
May the roof keep out the rain,
may sunshine warm each windowpane.
And may the door be open wide
to let the Good Lord’s love inside.

Peanut Butter Delight Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 by Kim
We had such a fun and relaxing weekend! It was absolutley beautiful out, so we enjoyed a few walks with Scoober and some much needed rest! It was interesting because at church we even talked about how our culture views busyness as significance. I was surprised at how much I needed to think about that. It was a great reminder that rest is not meaningless but is valued by God and should be valued by us as well.
I also wanted to share this blog from a wonderfully crock pot-obsessed lady! It’s awesome! My sister sent me the link after seeing her on Good Morning America talking about cooking everything in her crock pot for a year. Kind of fascinating! We made the Asian Peanut Butter Pork and devoured it tonight! SO GOOD! I could get used to the crock pot cookin’! We’re even looking forward to leftovers! mmm!

Oh! While I’m at it, one more random thing: The New York Times reported that Sleepless in Seattle’s Broadway debut is in the works! I’m very excited and curious, especially after my Legally Blonde experience! That’s all for now…back to some snacking on some milk chocolate chips! A gourmet dessert indeed!
