My sweet friends drove to meet up with me in good old Columbus, Texas…or Columbia as we kept calling it. We ate at Schobel’s, which I had heard a lot about and always wondered about. As I waited for the girls to arrive (after a quick-quick stroll around wally world) I naturally did some people watching Columbus-style. I saw lots of people enter the restaurant who I imagine have decades of Schobel’s experience behind them. It was really cute, and I imagine it’s a big hit on Sunday afternoons, if they’re even open.
To our surprise, Schobel’s is a buffet until 3 pm. Who knew? (we were there long enough to shut the buffet down though, no worries) So we loaded up with typical buffet “fixins”. Really it just felt more like we would eat, talk a lot, then go for a second, third…. lunch. I mean, we took advantage. Our waitress was also excited to meet our Baby Mama, and we were equally excited to tell her about our future baby girl.
It was really, really good to see Grace, Marisa & Amanda!! We missed the rest of our girls- poor Corrie was sicko. We had much needed face to face convo and laughed a good bit. It was like a tease though and made me want a good long weekend with them + others.
Sidenote: We discussed Grace’s bday a while back when we all piled in a 15 passenger van…Grace brought to our attention that many of us have since forgotten that the main event that night was her birthday, and now act as if we were only celebrating the usage of a 15 passenger van. (which in itself is worth celebrating if you ever have the opportunity for a joyride in one) You should know: I just said, “hey nick, remember the night of the 15 passenger?” nick: “yeah” me: “why’d we go out that night?” nick: “it was Grace’s birthday!” …Grace, I just thought you should know!

What me and Scoobs did today Saturday, October 10th, 2009 by Nick
Kim left me at home today while she left town to visit her girls. With my Jeep currently out of commission this is how me and Scoobs spent our day…singing the blues. Scoober says this is how he feels when he thinks about his old White Castle roommates.
Disclaimer: When I recorded this video (about an hour ago) I didn’t play the Harmonica. I now know how to play the intro to Piano Man thanks to this guy. What would we do without the overly confident YouTube instructors? Garage Band? Really?

A Fresh Look Thursday, October 8th, 2009 by Nick
It’s been a long time since our last post and to mark our return I wanted to introduce you guys to a fresh look designed by yours truly. Over the past several months I’ve been dabbling in web design and have learned a lot about what makes great websites tick. I’ve slowly been building up my portfolio offering up my services freely to anyone who needs a website. Lately a majority of my free time has been devoted to learning the basic building blocks of web design, more specifically HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Photoshop. This is partly why you haven’t seen me blogging. Well, that and the feeling that our blog was somewhat cheapened because it wasn’t home-brewed. That’s what lead to the site your looking at now. We’ve left good old Blogger behind and have made our way to the powerful and very extensible Wordpress. Wordpress allowed me to use the HTML & CSS tricks I was learning and plug them into a highly customizable blogging platform. I’m still very much in the beginning stages of learning all there is to know about the world of web but I’m excited about the potential of possibly one day making a career out of it. But, for now it’s a hobby that I really enjoy. I hope you like it! Scoober definitely adds a special touch.
