Giddy with GLEE Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 by Kim

glee

I am in lovvvve with Glee! I know 30Rock used to have my heart, but I think the two shows can share. And 30 Rock had left me for a little summer hiatus. Gotta do whatcha gotta do. Anyway, I am just waiting anxiously to see what my friends will sing to me this week. I also heard a rumor that they’ll be touring this summer! Ah!

Scoobs and I are off  to check the mail (for the first time in about a month: we’re terrible mail-checkers) before this impending “terrible rain storm”. We’ll see. I wouldn’t mind a cozy evening of rain + tv though.

Got my ears lowered Thursday, June 18th, 2009 by Kim

So, I chopped 10 inches of my hair off! Woo hoo! I had been planning to donate it for a while, but Saturday I just couldn’t take it any longer. I called up a rando place & walked out an hour later with a new bob…a really poofy bob actually. Nothing my little chi couldn’t handle though. It’s still shocking me when I catch a glimpse of myself in a window or something, and I’m getting used to lots of honest comments about it! Yesterday someone said, “You look evennn youngerrrr!” Me: “yeahh” Them: “Not bad though”. Thanks. At least it’s not bad, right? haha Haircut comments are always funny. I like when people ask if I just got too hot, like a summer impulse. I mean, I was hot on Saturday, but I would have probably jumped in the pool before chopping my hair off as a first choice resolve to the heat index. My hair does grow like a weed though, so I feel like it’s my duty to grow & chop sometimes. It’s fun for me to have a change as well. -I’ll add a photo later-

I’m so ready for the weekend!!! Really, I’m ready for a whole long summer break, but I’ll gladly take a weekend!

A little star struck… Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 by Kim

While not his usual claim-to-fame in the ballet world, Christopher Wheeldon did choreograph Center Stage. I won’t lie, I enjoy the movie big time! Chris was in town for HB’s performance tomorrow night of his “Carousel (A Dance)”, a short ballet to Richard Rodgers’ music from the iconic musical of the same name. He originally created it for New York City Ballet as a tribute to the centennial of Rodgers’ work. I love the music, and I think it’s in my blood because my mom is a musical nut and so were my grandparents. Actually, they especially loved Carousel and my mom remembers them singing it a lot. Kind of sweet.
After much back and forth last night because of schedule changes, an interview at KUHF, Houston’s NPR affiliate station, finally worked out. I was just thinking today that I’m thankful for our new, sweet intern because she was reminding me that it’s pretty cool that we get to go meet these awesome choreographers and hang out with them for a bit.

I was also happy to chat with Chris and appreciated how easy going he was! He literally got in my car & asked “So where are we going?” Now that’s easy going!

I’m looking forward to seeing his ballet and relieved the interview happened. (will air tomorrow on KUHF’s The Front Row kuhf.org)

On another note, Happy Birthday, Lindsey Kristen Mika! :) Of all days to forget my phone for the entire day, I was bummed I couldn’t give Linds a good morning wake up call. Happy Wednesday!
